The assignment

Help shareholders follow the business.

An AGM film has limited time to explain a business with several initiatives underway. Each update may matter to the team behind it. The audience still needs a clear sense of what matters most and how the parts relate.

PurplePerfect worked on XOX's video script for its 2024 AGM, intended for investors and shareholders.

Story structure

Give every update a clear status.

01

Achievement

What has happened.

02

Current activity

What is underway.

03

Future priority

What the company is ready to discuss next.

01

Decide what deserves the audience's attention

The working material covered a range of business initiatives. Script development involved shortening that material while preserving the important information.

That is a judgement about emphasis. Which development establishes the business context? Which needs explanation? Which detail can remain in the wider presentation?

A strong AGM narrative gives shareholders a route through the updates. Each section should add something to their understanding of the company.

02

Keep the story close to its sources

The correspondence included requests for annual-report material to support the script. Those sources help establish the facts behind the narrative and the language in which the business can be described.

The distinction between an achievement, an activity in progress and a future priority matters. A concise script must preserve it.

The creative principle is to leave the audience with an account they can follow and remember, grounded in what the company is ready to say.

Editorial selection

Decide what needs to be spoken—and what can be seen.

During XOX’s AGM 2024 script development, the team worked through a practical tension: several business updates needed to fit into a short film. The correspondence records section-by-section duration planning and moving selected information into visuals and on-screen text.

The BLACKAPP material and KAMU EVENT pillars were among the items considered in this way. The purpose was to give the spoken narrative room to move while keeping supporting information available on screen.

The review process treated duration as an editorial decision: the audience needed enough time to understand the information, while the film still had to fit its place in the meeting.

Delivery planning

Language and playback belong in the brief.

The project correspondence records English-subtitled delivery links in MOV, AVI and MP4, followed by Malay and Chinese subtitle work. The client also reviewed the consistency of the Chinese typeface.

That is a useful reminder for an AGM commission: approving the words does not finish the viewing experience. Character rendering, subtitle timing, screen legibility and the venue’s playback specification also need attention. Container formats such as MOV and MP4 do not, on their own, define the codec, resolution or compatibility of a file.

Planning a similar film

Give every update a reason to be there.

  • Agree the main conclusion shareholders should take from the film.
  • Supply the approved reporting-period material and identify what can be communicated publicly.
  • Decide which details need narration, which work better visually and which belong in the wider presentation.
  • Confirm language versions, playback requirements, the screening date and the final approval owner.

Share your shareholder message and the material you already have. We can help identify the narrative decisions needed before a production scope is settled.

Commissioning a telecommunications AGM film

How do we cover several businesses or priorities?

Agree the main shareholder message, then decide how each segment contributes. Use approved sources to establish what needs screen time and what can sit in the annual report or accompanying presentation.

What should we provide for script development?

Share the AGM date, reporting period, approved company material and priority messages. Identify who can approve the business narrative, figures and final wording.
